We bought one of these slow feeders (teal, small size) for one of our 1-year old cats who eats his food too quickly. Thankfully, he doesn't have any issues with vomiting or bloating, but the way he ate still seemed unhealthy, and so we decided to give this a try. It works exactly as intended! Now, instead of inhaling his dry food within 1-1.5 minutes, it takes him about 7-10 minutes to complete his meal. He eats each piece individually and ACTUALLY CHEWS HIS FOOD. It's a miracle! He'll even take a water break (or two) mid-meal, which was unheard of before. One thing we were concerned about prior to purchasing was whether he would be able to fit his paw into the outermost slot. While that part of the bowl did appear to be a bit difficult for him early-on, he is now able to get food out of there like a pro!I would highly recommend this product to any pet parent who's cat eats their dry food much too fast. We decided to go with the teal one simply because it seemed like the best to slow him down and because it was the least obnoxious-looking of the bunch. The orange one would probably work similarly, but the color was too much. In terms of size, our cat is 10.5 lbs and he is able to fit his paw into the deep slots (of the size small) just fine. Consider going to a bigger size for a bigger cat. Another thing to note is that using this bowl can be a little messy if your dry food has a lot of crumbs. You can avoid this by sifting your dry food before placing it in a storage container. (I didn't do that for this video, and you can see the crumbs on the ground.)Also, keep in mind that this feeder only works well for cats who are driven by food/who will do anything for food. Our other 1-year old is a very timid eater and would not touch his meal if it was in this bowl.Give you cat time to adjust to this product and it will serve you in the long run!
I ordered the smaller bowl and it is great for my very large dog. This significantly slows the rate of my dog's eating. The small bowl will hold 2 cups of food and the large bowl holds a lot of food- I recommend this, especially the smaller size if your dog gets smaller meals throughout the day. The small size works fine even for my 100lb dog.
