The first time we tried putting boots on our mini schnauzer, he was only about 6 months old. He freaked out and wouldn't budge. In fact, he just fell over on his side and waited until we removed the offensive things from his person. These boots are a totally different story. From the moment we put them on his paws and he could see how the rubber bottoms made it so he didn't slip and slide all over the wood floors anymore, he was ECSTATIC. In fact, he pranced around the house like he was SOMEBODY! He sounds like a little horse, clopping around the house and we laugh every time we hear that joyful noise. The only drawback that we have encountered is that these boots do let water through the upper fabric. They are NOT completely waterproof. So, when he comes in from outside and the grass is wet, we have to remove the boots and let them dry out while he stays in his kennel. We bought these boots and another complete set in order to help relieve our dog's allergies. He breaks out with skin lesions when he walks in the grass with his bare paws. He is also allergic to his own saliva. So in addition to the boots, which he wears from morning to night time, we keep a Comfy Cone on him to prevent him from licking himself into another skin outbreak. This is the longest period of time he has NOT had to go on antibiotics to clear up his skin.If you also have a dog with skin issues or who slides all over the hardwood floors, these boots are great for providing both protection and traction.
Never understood why dogs would need boots, Alaskan Huskies always seemed fine. However, I bought these since when the dog came in the house, I was tired of removing the ice between his paws and drying them off so he didn't leave tracks and dirt around. Well, these worked fine and didn't mind me putting them on. They have double velcro straps on each which keeps them from coming off. Also, no ice or dirt builds up in his paws. I also like that they have actual tread on the bottom that keeps them from slipping on ices and snow, so good traction. When I first got them and put them on him in the house, it was a new feeling for him, so had to call him over at first to get him to walk in him. Must admit, he sounded like a Clydesdale walking in them. However, after two minutes outside, he was running around in them with no issues. Make sure you check the sizing chart if you decide to purchase.
